Each Terminal has at least one designated
[watcher]. The purpose of all watchers is simple:
watch and observe each thread and take notice of
any tears. Their role in the effort to combat
the CoS, though supportive in nature, is a
vital one. Detecting early distortions allows
Terminals to propagate away from the ruinous
CoS and mark the area as, inevitably, lost.
By spreading far and wide within their
designated Terminal, watchers act as a
sacrificial sensory array. Sacrificial,since
their ability to attune to the threads
renders them relatively immobile.
Additionally,relaying information on the
CoS, and the exact details of its
fluctuations, is valued far higher than
the preservation of a mere watcher.
Some watchers, however, have adapted to use
excessive modes of communication and have even
utilized unauthorized organs to unknown ends.
A surprising amount of evidence, (refer to
V645n8 for more information), points to some
sort of melody starting this trend. It is
theorized that it interacted with the threads
which were being monitored by watchers, and
subsequently altered them with its vibrations.
Investigations into the matter have been set
aside, as the effects, though rather
annoying, (see class 999999 watchers), have
not hindered the ability for these watchers
to fulfill their roles.

Estimate of Terminals destroyed / unrecoverable /
uncovered / lost / ... :

It is to be expected that the number of watchers
that existed at some point greatly exceeds this
estimation, though those still observable to even
the highest classes of probes are few.
If you encounter any watchers as Terminals
[RECONNECT], alert the established nodes and
continue onward. A watcher's death is merely a way
to measure the CoS's advancement, and it will
always creep back into place.
Only the CONSTRUCTS can give a VOICE to the
words which may, in time, slow the CoS. Perhaps,
even stopping it.
