    …or what’s left of it.

    Yeah, as you can see, it’s a bit empty right now. Has been for a while. Reason being, you see, is that we don’t hire anyone anymore. I know, I know, why am I here then, in this hiring hub, if we don’t even hire anymore and clearly have need for workers in the BPF…

    I’m told that I’m to “maintain the fitness and readiness of all hiring systems and subsystems and all related machines and equipment”… or so they said. In case they ever need to restart the hiring process, it’s important that I’m here… alone… in the hiring hub… day after day… just in case I’m needed.

    If something went wrong, or something.

    I doubt it will ever happen. The areas where maintenance isn’t needed has a preeeeetty thick layer of dust. It’s been many, many years since we last used this hub. Sure, there might have been times when it could have been reopened… but it’s better to wait for the worker production to resume rather than restart this hiring hub.

    Maybe if the entire worker production area was blown up by a giant worm or something, then I would probably be given the order to resume hiring.

    I get it though, why go through a hiring process to find a “maybe suitable candidate”, when you can simply grow a perfect worker? If I were a higher up, I’d trash this place. It can’t compete with that sort of technology.

    But a job is a job, I guess.

    Not much to see here, but if you want, you can see some of the worker vats. It’s not the flashy standard production vats, just some long-term storage. Keeping some in reserve in case production is interrupted and all that…

    Well, go look. It’s a restricted area, but this is between you and me.
